1st XI Stafford’s young first team had a mixed weekend with a disappointing 4 wicket league defeat at Crewe on the Saturday before bouncing back with an impressive home win on Bank Holiday Monday over Norton in the Talbot Cup. Stafford batted first at Crewe but were disappointingly bowled out for 137. Mohammed Salman 5-52 did the damage as only Imran Ali 34, Richard Brazier and Guy Seaton both 28 offered any resistance with the bat. 1st XI Stafford started off the new season and life division two of the North Staffs and South Cheshire Cricket league with a draw at home to Kidsgrove in an entertaining game at Riverway. Stafford were still awaiting their overseas player from Sri Lanka so drafted in Worcestershire seamer Jack Shantry. The visitors batted first and on a good batting surface hit 245-9 from 55 overs.
