Stafford’s batting department failed to fire at all on Saturday and a heavy defeat at home to Alsager has left them bottom of the table in division two. The batting has been ok for most of the season but they were shot out for a lowly 48 by visiting Gareth Rowe who claimed an impressive 7-31. Stafford’s professional Aparajit Singh did pick up the 2 wickets in the reply but they lost by 8 wickets. Stafford need to be more consistent in both batting and bowling and will look to bounce back with a trip to Caverswall on Saturday. Maiden 50 for James

Following the table topping clash with Wolverhampton, the Under 15′s travelled to Codsall to continue their league games, it was all change at the top as the batting order was revised from previous games, Stafford closing on 152 -6 with James Wild making his maiden 50 for the Club, retiring on 53 which included 5 fours and 4 sixes. From the lower order Harry Hyde Farrington and Jamie Wood contributed 33 and 19 respectively both being undefeated at the close. In reply in difficult light Codsall were bowled out for 66.

Under 15 lose their unbeaten league run

 A strong Wolverhampton side visited the Riverway and batted first, with County Player Jack Lewis leading the way with an unbeaten 51  out of his teams total of 134 -1. In reply Stafford made a steady but cautious start before losing their first wicket for 42 during the 10th over, with Harry Hyde Farrington making 21. Jamie Wood and James Wild improved the run rate slightly befor Jamie fell for 18. James went onto make 33 including one massive six, but Stafford lost a further 3 wickets in quick succession closing on 82 – 6 still 52 runs short of their total

News from 21st & 22nd May 2011

1st XI In division two of the North Staffs and South Cheshire league Stafford’s firsts fielding a young side this season battled well but suffered a narrow 3 wicket defeat on their trip to Silverdale.  It was tricky conditions to bat in and Stafford were 147 all out Richard Brazier top scored with a fluent 40 before Ashley Lunn chipped in with 30.  In reply professional Aparajit Singh 4-32 and captain Mark Smallman 3-29 bowled well and the home side were in trouble at 49-6 before Glyn Moore won the game for them finishing on 58 not out as Silverdale closed on 148-7. Under 15′s Bowlers Bonanza as 8 different bowlers share the wickets.

The under 15′s visited neighbours Rugeley for their latest league match.It was agreed to reduce the game to 15 overs per side due to the threatening weather. Stafford batted first and reached 111 – 2 with Harry Hyde Farrington retiring on 39, Scott Redden hitting 20 on debut, Jamie Wood 19 both undefeated. When Rugeley replied James Wild and Harry Hyde Farrington took two quick  wickets each to leave Rugeley on 24 – 4.  It was then that James gave one over each to Scott Redden,Jamie Wood,Andrew Crump,Ethan Ahye,Lewis Millward, Kampi Chibelushi, all of whom took one wicket...
