Stafford CC romped to a comprehensive victory against rivals Meir Heath CC at Riverway on Saturday in NSSC league Division 2. Stafford won the toss and elected to bowl first and it soon proved to be a good decision. ┬áThe seam duo of Paul Freeman (4-12) and Tino Mafusire (6-24) blew away their Meir Heath counterparts for an incredible 49 all out in just 28 overs. Guy Seaton (21 not out) ensured the commanding victory as the hosts eased to their target for the loss of one wicket. “All credit to the two bowlers really – Paul and Tino took advantage of the swinging conditions and bowled superbly. We also held all our catches which makes a big difference as we all know good players won’t give you too many chances. ┬áMeir aren’t a bad side and to get a win like that under a bit of league table pressure was really pleasing and we’re looking forward to the Bignall End game on Saturday now.” Stafford travel to Bignall End with a 12:30 start.
