Stafford still remain just outside the relegation spots in Division 2 of the North Staffs and South Cheshire League despite a 3 wicket defeat in a low scoring game at Norton in Hales. Batting first an under strength Stafford side were skittled for 83 with only stand in skipper Luke Morien with a battling 36 in 70 balls troubling the scorers. Stafford lost early wicket to Jack Furnival 3-32 before Kashif Ali Moon blew away the tail with 5-10 in six overs which included a hatrick. In the reply Stafford did battle hard and picked up 7 victims thanks to Morien 4-28 and Tino Mafusire 3-36 but the home side edged home in 17.3 overs as Stafford probably needed 30 more runs to make it interesting. Stafford are back in action at home this Saturday and returning skipper Rob James will be looking for an important win against Meir Heath at Riverway with a 12-30pm start.
The seconds drew at home to Whitmore in Division 5 after the visitors hit 183-5 from their 45 overs batting first at Riverway Brad Evans claimed 3-63 as Jack Armstrong top scored with 54. Stafford batted out for the draw in the reply closing on 119-6 from 43 overs left handers Ali Martin hit 37 not out and Terry Jones 31.
The thirds also drew in a high scoring game at Riverway. Visitors Rode Park hit 209-9 declaring after 41 overs. The returning Andrew Harper claimed 5-41 and debutant Dan Parnaby 3-31. In the reply Stafford wicket keeper Ant Prinold hit a fluent 39 opening up and Sam Haynes struck a quickfire 29 before the last pair of Kieran Duggal and Michael James hung on for the draw with Stafford 173-9 batting out 48 overs.
