Stafford CC 2nd XI Winning Selfie
Stafford CC were once again undone by the brilliance of Sri Lanka professional Eranga Thilina Rathnayake as they lost to Woore CC on Saturday at Riverway. Stafford had ammased a decent total finishing on 176-8 off their allotted overs with Guy Seaton (75) and Ethan Sheriff (29) the main contributors. Craig Ruscoe (3-45) and Rathnayake (3-49) did the damage for Woore. However the total was never going to be enough when Rathnayake came to the crease with purpose. His 113 not out came from just 68 deliveries as Woore cantered to an easy victory for the loss of three wickets. Stafford travel to top of the table Endon CC on Saturday with a 12:30 start.
Stafford CC seconds picked up a third consecutive win in division 6 at Moddershall CC fifths. Stafford batted first and posted 209-9 thanks to some fine striking from Faraz Siddiqi (65) and the in-form Ali Siddiqi (73). Sean Connolly (5-30) then ensured the victory as the hosts were toppled for 79 runs as Stafford CC seconds continued their push for promotion.
Stafford CC thirds lost out on the road to Endon 2nds on Saturday. Stafford CC batted first but could only manage 138 all out with Andy Kirkbride (34) the top scorer. Brad Hulme (3-14) was crucial for the home side. Endon then cruised to victory for the loss of three wickets as Tom Nadin (45) and Hulme (36 not out) sealed the victory.
Stafford CC fourths contested a hard fought draw with Porthill Park fifths at Riverway on Saturday. Kannan Bhuvanachandran (44) set the tone for Stafford and father and son duo Trevor Stewart (62 not out) and Jake Stewart (50) helped Stafford to an impressive 240-5. In reply Gareth Bilton (48) worked hard but Phil Stacey(4-46), who passed a late fitness test, took Stafford close to victory. However, the visitors hung on for the draw closing on 161-7.
